A country located in northern Europe as part of the Baltic states along with Latvia and Lithuania. It consists of the mainland, the larger islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, and more than 2000 other islands. It is a democratic unitary parliamentary republic.
It has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Tallinn’s Old Town. More than 50% of Estonia is forest. One of the country's national dishes is räim, a Baltic dwarf herring.
